April is National Autism Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing understanding and acceptance of individuals on the autism spectrum. This month serves as a reminder to celebrate neurodiversity and encourage inclusion for people with autism in every aspect of life.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) affects 1 in 54 children in the United States, with individuals exhibiting a range of strengths and challenges. While there is no one-size-fits-all definition of autism, many individuals on the spectrum experience differences in communication, social interaction, and behavior. However, each person with autism has a unique set of traits and capabilities that make them special.

National Autism Awareness Month aims to break down barriers and combat misconceptions about autism. Through education, advocacy, and personal stories, this month encourages everyone to become more mindful of the diverse needs of individuals with ASD. By spreading awareness, we can foster greater empathy and create a more inclusive world for everyone.
